What are some Tax deductions I can use for work?
I work in the inventory buisness and I was wondering what kind of things i can use a write off on next years taxes so I know what recepits to save. Like mileage ( I go diffrent places each day sometimes more than 40 miles each way), ink (for printing schedules and directions to jobs) any car repairs (since I use my car daily and cant work without it) and my phone line (because they have to call me to change my schedule or to switch me to a diffrent store ect.) Is there anything else that I can write off and does anyone know what portions of these things they allow you to write off for taxes or what % they give you back. Thanks for any and all help
You can use either the standard mileage or actual expenses for your car. Keep a track of all miles, business miles and commuter miles. Keep receipts for gas and expenses, related to going to and from different worksites. Buy another cellphone and use for for nothing but work related, 100% work, you can write that off.
Now in order to do this, depending on your filing status, you must itemize your deductions, so they are higher than the standard deduction, unless you are considered a independent contractor, which opens you up to some other deductions you can take.
